What is a Sport Club?

UCCS has 16 clubs and nearly 400 student-athletes, competing everywhere from local tournaments to across the country. Any student can join, no experience required.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Don't see your sport on the list? Start one. UCCS has grown its Sport Clubs program every year and is always open to new clubs. If you can get 15 people interested, you have what you need to get started. 

Submit a New Sport Club Application online. Once submitted, Sports and Youth Programs staff will reach out to schedule a meeting with the Program Director and/or Coordinator to walk through the rest of the process together.

How to Apply for a New Sport Club:

  1. Submit the New Sport Club Application online through the Officer Resources Center under Administrative 

  1. Submit a letter of application to the Sport Club Committee covering: why the club benefits the program, the club's purpose and goals, how the activity will be delivered, how safety and risk will be managed, officer and coach contact info, membership status, and governing association contact info 

  1. Submit your club's constitution and by-laws, including any rules and regulations from your governing body 

  1. Complete a Sport Club Budget Packet with a full itemized breakdown of projected revenues and expenses for the upcoming year 

  1. Submit a proposed activity schedule including practice times, facilities needed, and the length of your season 

  1. Provide a complete equipment inventory, noting any privately owned equipment and who it belongs to 

  1. Submit a list of at least 15 interested members including their contact info, UCCS Student ID numbers, and signatures

Applications are reviewed twice a year — submit by November 1st for spring consideration or April 1st for fall consideration.

All students are eligible regardless of skill, ability, or experience. Find your club in the directory above and email the contact listed with any questions about the club. For help with registration and forms, stop by the Sports Desk at the Recreation and Wellness Center or email sports@uccs.edu. 

Before your first practice, game, or event, every player must complete four requirements:  

  • Player Registration — completed online, covers one year of participation from the date submitted 

  • Player Dues — paid online by your club's deadline, and failure to pay results in removal from the team 

  • Player Physical — completed on the provided PDF form, valid for your entire Sport Clubs career, turn in to the UCCS Wellness Center Front Desk or the Sport Clubs Athletic Trainer 

  • NCAA Concussion Facts Sheet — must be read before submitting your Player Participation Waiver 

 All printable forms can be turned in at the Sports Desk during office hours. 

Sport Club Events

Sport Clubs host and compete in events throughout the year, from local matches to regional and national tournaments. Check back here for upcoming events, or follow Campus Recreation on social media for updates.

RecFest 

RecFest is Campus Recreation's annual kickoff event at the start of the fall semester. It's open to all students and gives every Sport Club the chance to set up an info booth and recruit new members. 

  • Held annually in August 

  • Location: UCCS Recreation and Wellness Center 

  • Includes: group fitness demos, inflatables, yard games, free giveaways, club sport info booths, outdoor adventure and wellness resources
